1973 Nautor Swan 44/003
This beautiful, well maintained Swan 44 is what many consider to be the best of the classic Swan attributes and remains to this day a sought after vessel for both racing and cruising, Her sea worthy hull and comfortable/practical interior layout make her a joy to sail.
Originally commissioned in 1973 as Superstar of Hamble where it was then named Best in Show at the London Boat Show in January 1973. That year she did various races throughout Europe. She was then freighted to Sydney, Australia, to compete in the Southern Cross Cup which included the Sydney to Hobart race found them winning the Team Award. She was sold in Australia and re-commissioned as Mirabooka and raced several more Sydney to Hobart races with J. Bennetto at the helm.
In 1990, this Swan 44 appeared in San Diego as Adriana and was raced for years by the San Diego Yacht Club Commodore Myron Lyon. She was raced in the 2000 Pacific Cup with Myron at the helm and finished 4th in the class of 20.
In 2004 the boat was sold to Norman and Candace Thersby and renamed Kyalami. Extensive upgrades include new engine, transmission, rigging, generator, wind generator, batteries, inverter charger, refrigeration, electronics, etc. In 2011 she participated in the Baja Ha-Ha Cruisers Rally to Mexico finishing in Cabo San Lucas. Since then she has been cruised in and around Mexico including La Paz, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Barra de Navidad.

The owner's stateroom is aft with single berths, port and starboard separated by two hanging lockers, storage space and seat. There is storage beneath both bunks. The head is accessed from the starboard side of the stateroom and includes vanity and sink, toilet (with fresh or sea water flush), shower and storage locker. The head is also accessible from the main cabin. The companionway hatch is on the center line with a ladder, making access to the cockpit and communication from down below to the those on deck very easy and safe.
Moving forward to port into the main cabin, there is a large hanging locker followed by the galley, complete with double stainless sinks with hot and cold pressure water, large top loading refrigerator, and 3-burner gimbaled propane stove with oven.
The Nav station is to starboard which is the electronic and electrical control station for the vessel. There is storage under the seat, bookcase, drawers and storage under the chart table. Further forward there are pilot uppers and transom lowers both port and starboard separated by a drop leaf table with storage. Forward of the berths are storage lockers and drawers. Moving further forward is the forward stateroom with a hanging locker to port and a general storage locker to starboard and a spacious "V" berth with custom mattress. The entire interior is varnished teak with teak and holly soles with vinyl and teak overheads and Alpen cabin lights.
