location icon Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Year 1998
Length 52 ft
Price
$279,500

This Beautiful McConaghy Bermuda 52 is the best Ocean going, most thought out sailing vessel currently afloat today, built with absolutely no compromise whatsoever, a boat that is easy to sail and maintain, then this should be your choice.

Heartbeat is the result of a collaborative effort by the world renowned master yacht designer, Chuck Paine and Americas cup composite builder John McConaghy of Australia. The yachts concept elaborates on Paine’s successful Apogee 50/51 built by Able Yachts which is now being built by Morris Yachts as the Morris 51 (list price approx $1.5 million USD)

If your sailing vision encompasses safe, sea kindly designs, comfortable and sensible usage of space, self sufficiency, extraordinary performance; able to do 200 mile day runs in less than ideal conditions, then this is the best choice.

She is a very capable blue water cruiser. She is willing and able to take you wherever you want to take her. Her last major cruise was across, the Mediterranean, through the straights of Gibraltar to the Canary Islands then across the Atlantic to St Lucia. Then after a short rest she went across the Caribbean and through the Panama and up the coast of Central America Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

She was last hauled out and bottom painted in 2020

Heartbeat is very functional and tastefully finished below in a handsome combination of high quality white laminate and hand selected and matched sawn teak trim, rails and drawer doors. Brown leather upholstery (with at-sea sunbrella covers), high quality Italian vinyl headliner, brushed look alloy Haffel push button latches on lockers and drawers complete the interiors clean, contemporary look. Teak and holly veneer cabin sole panels laminated to Durapanel finished in satin Polyurethane complete the yachts ship shape atmosphere. Light is provided by cabin ceiling mounted LED lights and 13 articulated (and newly renewed) deck hatches, 6 dorade ventilators and 10 distinctive hull-side ports.

Walk Through:

From the cockpit, teak steps descend comfortably below the hard dodger. This unusual design feature is incredible in inclement weather conditions as it gives you comfortable standing headroom under the hard dodger. There is a clip-on station at the companionway to allow safe transition to the windier cockpit. As you enter from the companionway, immediately to port is a guest cabin with a queen sized berth, a chest of drawers, hanging locked, linen storage, multiple shelves and below bed storage. A large head is located to starboard at the base of the companion way allowing easy access to the shower/wetroom. There is a storage cabinet/washing machine locker, an electric Jabsco quiet flush head and functional Coriander molded sink. Though a watertight door is the spacious engine room which houses the Perkins M-90 main engine, Kubota powered generator, Glacier Bay refrigerator pump, and voyager 40 Watermaker. The engine room is also accessible from the cockpit through a hatch.

The galley is located just forward of the head area to starboard. The beautiful “sandstone look” Corian countertops with moulded corian fiddles give tremendous counter space. The polished 8 inch deep stainless steel double sink is recessed below corian on forward centerline island space amidships. Below the sink is a large storage area for cleaning supplies and a functional garbage cupboard with rear facing access.

The forward facing Navigation station is located across from the galley to port and has a large solid teak chart table with storage below. The chart plotter an radios are mounted in an access door to port of the Nav table and the Heart interface electric panel is behind that. There is a large storage locker below the electric panel as well as another large storage locker under the navigators seat.

The salon is forward of the galley and nav station and features an L-shaped settee to starboard, another settee to port and a solid drop-leaf solid teak table between the two settees. Extensive bookshelves and storage lockers are located above the settees. Both over 6 foot length settees are equipped with Lee cloths and provide the “best beds in the house” for the crew in inclement weather conditions.

The full width master stateroom located forward of the salon and features a queen sized bed with a pillow to real mattress to starboard with abundant storage (and many spares) below with bookshelves and storage lockers above as well as a large hanging locker at the foot of the bed to starboard. A large vanity with a swing out leather seat is to port. There is also a chest of drawers, storage lockers and more bookshelves located to port. The owners head is also located to port within the cabin area and features a Jabsco quiet flush head, a molded coriander sink and dual mirror fronted cabinet.

Forward of the owners stateroom, there is an oversized forpeak/bosons locker behind a watertight bulkhead door. This storage area is also accessible from on deck through a large foredeck hatch. This area provides extensive storage for lines, deck hardware, ground tackle, sails and assorted cruising gear. There is also access to the chain locker to forward of the storage area.
